Abstract

1,035,748. Furniture frames; seats; tables. KNOLL ASSOCIATES Inc. May 7, 1965, No. 19464/65. Headings A4H and A4J. A wire furniture structure comprises warp wires W interconnected at their lower extremities by a continuous gunnel GB and at their upper extremities by a continuous gunnel GU. Wires W converge from gunnel GB to form a truncated conical base 10 resting on gunnel GB and terminating at its upper end in a throat. Wires W are curved outwardly and upwardly from the throat to form e.g. a seat 11, back 12 and arms 13, 14 of a chair. Woof wires L1-L5, WW may be attached at spaced positions to reinforce the chair. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the wires W may diverge at the throat to form a table support.
