Abstract

1,035,557. Track levelling apparatus. CANADA IRON FOUNDRIES Ltd. Sept. 28, 1964 [Oct. 8, 1963], No. 39426/64. Heading B7N. [Also in Division G1] Apparatus for correcting the longitudinal and cross-levels of a rail track comprises a vehicle 10 carrying jacking means 12 for independently raising each rail of the track and track packing means 13, a target element 15, 16 clamped to the track and positioned over the grade rail at a high point in advance of the vehicle, a rear sight 20 positioned above the grade rail on a tubular frame 22 which is supported by rail-engaging wheels 21 and extends rearwardly from the vehicle and a foresight including a cross-level indicator mounted on rail-engaging wheels 29 at the jacking position. An operator at the rear sight position controls the raising of the grade rail and a second operator at the jacking position controls the raising of the other rail by reference to the cross-level indicator. The cross-level indicator which includes a bubble level may be set to give a required degree of super-elevation.
