Abstract

1,035,476. Stoppers. A. FISHBACH, [trading as ALFRED FISHBACH KUNST. STOFF-SPRITZGUSSWERK]. April 16, 1963 [April 16, 1962; Dec. 4, 1962], No. 14942/63. Heading B8T. A tamper-proof bottle closure comprises a screw cap 1 having at least one finger 4 within it which moves smoothly over gently sloping back faces of teeth 10 (Fig. 4, not shown) on the neck of the bottle as it is screwed up but which projects into steep front faces of the teeth 10 when it is unscrewed, causing mutilation of the finger or teeth if the cap is removed. The cap has a protective collar 11 radially spaced from the finger having openings 5 (Fig. 2, not shown), separated by thin easily broken, closely spaced ribs 12, by which tampering can be detected. The collar has a lower part 14 and an upper part, the lower part being of larger diameter and thinner walled than the upper part and being separated therefrom by a shoulder 13. A corresponding projecting shoulder 17 is formed on the bottle neck to prevent access to the finger 4 from below the collar, the depth of the collar being preferably at least twice that of the openings.
