Abstract

1,035,307. Valves. D. G. OVENS. Sept. 23. 1964. No. 387l4/64 Heading F2V. The body 1 of a float-controlled tank-supply valve has an elbow passage 2 with an inlet 3 that opens to a flexible pipe 5 and an outlet 10 into the tank 9. The body 1 is threaded into a heavy block 8, which rests on the bottom of the tank so that the body 1 is held in position without fastening means. One end 12 of a lever 13 is journalled in the body 1 and has a return position 16 with a resilient sleeve or pad 17 therein which coacts with the outlet 10 to control flow therefrom; the lever 1 3 is connected to a float 23 either directly or by a chain 18 as shown. The valve may be lifted directly from the tank and the height of the water in the tank is determined by the number of chain links which are interposed between the float and lever. The resilient sleeve 17 may be rotated to provide a new valving surface when the previous one has worn. In various modifications, the body, which may be screwed into the tank, may be arranged for lateral mounting; the outlet may be disposed in a projecting rib.
