Abstract

1,033,706. Poultry batteries; feeding appliances. COPE WHELON & CO. Ltd. March 3, 1964 [Dec. 3, 1962], No. 45655/62. Heading A1M. In a poultry battery in which tier of cages has a trough 3 through which feed is conveyed by an endless chain 4, each chain is driven by a horizontal driving wheel 6 mounted on a vertical shaft 7 driven by a motor 8. The wheel 6 has axially extending teeth 12 which engage behind links of the chain 4. The motor 8 is an electric motor and drives the shaft 7 through a reduction gear box 9. Instead of the chain conveyers, the shaft 7 and horizontal wheels 6 may be used to operate the scrapers for removing droppings or a mechanism for collecting the eggs.
