Abstract

1,032,934. Trays, dishes etc.; stands. IAN HEATH Ltd. Mav 22. 1963 [June 12, 1962], No. 22462/62. Headings A4A and A4H. [Also in Division B3] A tray, dish, paper-rack &c. comprises a panel member 10 capable of being bent without splitting and having spaced tongues which are in interlocking engagement in or through apertures 14 in metal edging members 13. As shown, the panel consists of upper and lower laminated sheets 11, 12, each sheet being formed of a layer 11a, 12a of ductile metal, e.g. steel, bonded or otherwise secured to an outer non-metallic layer 11b, 12b preferably of a synthetic resin simulating a wood grain, the panel being secured in troughed form by tongues 21 provided in the sheet 11. The member 13 has a slot 25, receiving the edges 23, 24 of both sheets as a close sliding fit, and recesses 26, receiving the downwardly bent tongues 21. The longitudinal edges of the panel are channelled and received in enlarged ends of the slot 25. Handles 30 and feet 27 are formed integrally with, or secured to, the edging members. In modifications both sheets of the panel have tongues and the longitudinal edges of the lower sheet are bent so as to close the mouth of the channelled longitudinal edge of the upper sheet, the panel is formed of a single sheet, or the recesses 26 are replaced by a continuous groove. In further modifications, the tongues are secured in the apertures by being twisted about their median axes or engaged by set screws, a cover piece being applied to the outside of the edging member.
