Abstract

1,032,625. Arc rupturing in switches. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. Oct. 30, 1962 [Oct. 13, 1961], No. 36883/61. Heading H2B. An arc-chute comprising a plurality of insulating or conducting plates defining a number of open-ended cells is provided with a cowl 31 covering the exhaust ends of the cells and arranged to reverse the direction of flow of the hot gaseous arcing products, the interior of the cowl being divided into a number of separate ducts 36 communicating with the cells and with separate exhaust ports 37. An arc formed between arcing contacts 20, 21 is drawn out by arc runners 22, 23 and into the chute by magnetic inserts 24, 25. The arcchute may be moulded from zirconium silicate.
