Abstract

A combined heat-reflector and light-transmitter structure for simultaneously excluding heat rays and admitting light from a source of mixed radiation comprises a corrugated sheet of resilient, light-transmitting material, metallic heat-reflecting material on one side only of each corrugation leading to its crest, the other side of each corrugation leading to its crest being light transmitting the metallic heat-reflecting material being on the same side of each corrugation leading to its crest, the heat-reflective material being applied to the lower portion of said one side of the corrugation when the structure is in a vertical position, whereby the upper portion of said one side also is light-transmitting and the corrugated sheet forms alternating light-transmitting and heat-reflective bands, the heat-reflective material extending at an angle to the general plane of the sheet such that heat rays striking the said metallic surfaces at a predetermined range of angles from a source above a horizontal plane will be reflected away from the surfaces and to the side thereof from which the rays originated, while alternating light-transmitting bands will transmit light through the sheets. The upper portions of the corrugations may carry a second coating of material e.g. heat-reflecting material, on the opposite surface to the heat-reflecting surface.
