Abstract
1,026,916. Filling paper bags. HOLSTEIN & KAPPERT MASCHINENFABRIK PHOENIX G.m.b.H. March 11, 1964 [March 30, 1963], No. 10237/64. Heading B8C. A machine for opening and shaping, filling and sealing plastics coated paper bags includes two revolving devices, one carrying opening means on which bags in the form of tube sections welded at the bottom are placed, the other directly receiving the bags from the opening means for transport to filling and sealing stations. The means for opening and shaping the bags comprise spreading plates 5 suspended from a disc 4, while the other device includes receiving pockets mounted on a turntable 8. Both devices are intermittently rotated through 90 degrees by Geneva gearing 18, 19, 35. At the first station of the opening device the tube sections are placed manually on the spreading plates which are opened during rotation to extend the bags when spring-loaded rods 6 running against a cam track 7 are urged upwards. At the second station 24, the bottom of the bag is heated. Triangular flaps formed as a consequence of opening the bag are folded against the bottom by the plate 25 and are sealed by the pressing ram 26 at the third station. At the fourth station 5d, a rotating cam track 33 urges a stripper 32 downwards to pull the bags into a pocket on the turntable. At the next turntable station a pump 34, also operated by cam track 33 delivers material into the bag. At the next station, a rotating double cam 43 urges element 41 downwards to close and seal the bag. Gussets are sealed at the final station (Fig. 3, not shown), whereafter the package is removed from the machine.
