Abstract

A method of sterilizing articles of cotton or other textile material which comprises placing the articles in a sterilizing chamber, evacuating said chamber to 25 mm Hg or less, supplying steam to said chamber, withdrawing said steam, admitting steam to the desired sterilizing pressure for a predetermined period of time, withdrawing the steam and admitting filtered air, that is, substantially free from bacteria up to atmospheric pressure. The above method may be used in conjunction with an autoclave as described in Specification 889,044.
