Abstract

<PICT:1025887/C6-C7/1> A layout for converter steelworks, particularly with oxygen blowing equipment, comprises two or more converters a which move e.g. on trolley b independently along separate parallel straight tracks c to pass in turn from a charging shed d for charging molten pig iron, preferably using barrel-type ladles (see Fig. 2 not shown), and scrap e.g. using overhead travelling cranes, through a refining shed e with one blowing site g for each track, and to a teeming shed f where the steel is teemed into ladles. As shown, each production unit may consit of two converters, each moving on its own track having its own blowing site, the converters being presented alternately at the blowing sites. During conversion, a hood h for trapping fumes may be fixed above each converter, the two hoods of a production unit being connected to the same dust extractor i. Shed m is for relining worn converters.
