A roller 1, Fig. 4 (not shown), heated by electricity, steam &c. has discs 3 of heat insulating material between its ends and its trunnions 2, the discs having facial projections engaging in recesses at the ends of the roller and on the faces of flanges 2a integral with the trunnions, bolts 10, 11 in tapped holes holding the parts together. The trunnions 2 may act as driving &c. shafts
