Abstract

1,024,137. Brake arrangements; differential locking. F. KOTY, [trading as BERGISCHE ACHSENFABRIK FR. KOTZ & SOHNE]. Feb. 24, 1965 [March 7, 1964], No. 7996/65. Heading B7H. [Also in Division F2] The wheels of a vehicle are driven from propeller shaft 14 through differential gear 10 and individual bevel drives 12<SP>1</SP>, 11 and 12, 11<SP>1</SP> and braked by brake discs 32, 34, 36 respectively mounted on extension 17 of differential bevel gear 16, on extension 25 of propeller shaft 14 and in housing 38. The brakes are actuated by supplying oil through pipe 46 to chamber 48 moving non-rotatable disc 36 into contact with disc 34 which in turn is moved on extension 25 into contact with disc 32. The differential is lockable by supplying oil through pipe 47 to chamber 49 when plunger 40 moves disc 34 by means of thrust bearing 41 against disc 32.
