Abstract

1,023,845. Stacking-apparatus. FRUEHAUF CORPORATION. Aug. 29, 1963 [Sept. 10, 1962], No. 34300/63. Heading B8C. [Also in Divisions A4 and B7] In an apparatus for stacking shipping containers, pallets or the like, Fig. 1 (not shown), each container is supported, spaced from the others, by support arms, those arms above the lowermost being sequentially moved into an operative position as the containers are stacked. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, the operable means between the first and second support arms 20, 54 comprises a trip lever 32, pivoted at 30, and a link 46. A first container 26 placed on the inner end of lever 32 causes upward movement of link 46 with consequent horizontal positioning of the second support arm 54 and a second trip lever 80, movement of the outer ends of these components taking place within a lostmotion loop 94 of a second link 100. The first container is supported by the engagement of a pin 24 in a U-shaped yoke of the first support arm 20. Lowering of a second container 70 operates the second trip lever 80 to raise the link 100 and position a third support arm 54<SP>1</SP> for container engagement.
