In a wrapping machine, particularly intended for wrapping fragile articles, an intermittently rotatable wrapping wheel 17 has pockets comprising jaws 16 mounted on jaw members 27 which are pivotally mounted at 28 on a pair of arms 29, 31, the jaws 16 being urged towards each other by a light spring 34, an adjustable stop 36, mounted on each jaw member 27, being arranged to engage an abutment 37 on each of the arms 29, 31 to limit the closing movement of the jaws. Articles are brought by an intermittently rotatable feed wheel 13 to a transfer position where each article is transferred from a pocket 12 by a pusher 14, Fig. 1 (not shown), into a pair of waiting. jaws 16. A wrapper 18, severed by a knife 23 from a web 24 forwarded by feed rollers 26, is fed transversely into the path of each article by a pair of grippers 19 and is carried by the article during transit through a brush folding box 21. The arms 29, 31 are connected for simultaneous movement by arcuate rack members 38, movement of the arms being brought about by an oscillating cam 39 engaged by cam rollers 41 on an extension of arm 29. The wrapping wheel subsequently transfers each article to a discharge station via a number of wrapping stations.
