Abstract

102,138. Naamlooze Vennootschap A. Jurgens' Vereenigde Fabrieken. Nov. 8, 1915, [Convention date]. Carbon dioxide is absorbed from a gaseous mixture by passage through a liquid containing a normal alkali carbonate in solution and a hydrate or basic carbonate of magnesium in suspension. A salt, such as sodium or potassium chloride or nitrate, may be added to raise the boiling-point of the liquid. The liquid may be prepared by suspending magnesia alba in a solution of an alkali carbonate and boiling the mixture, or by adding to a solution of a magnesium salt an excess of alkali carbonate solution and boiling. After absorption of carbon dioxide, the liquids may be regenerated by boiling.
