Abstract

1,021,028. Selective printers. ANELEX CORPORATION. May 20, 1963 [May 24, 1962], No. 19903/63. Heading B6F. A selective printer hammer assembly comprises a plurality of hammers 10, Fig. 4, pivotally mounted on a shaft 18 supported in recesses 40 of extensions 38 of a base 20, the base being provided with a plate 46, having a resilient blade 44 which on the one hand holds the assembly of hammers 10 in the recesses 40 and on the other hand holds the hammers in a retracted position against drive springs 30. The plate 46 further includes stops 34 extending into the path of the hammers 10 to control their striking motion in that shoulder 36 contact the stops 34 whereby they are deflected with their corresponding hammers to limit the impact of the hammers. Impression of the hammers is effected by sets of driving springs 30 mounted on a cradle 28, the springs acting on followers 15 extending from the shanks 14 of the hammers 10 when an edge 32c of a cam 32 releases the ends of the followers 15 to impact the hammer face 4 against the selected characters 2. Each set of driving springs actuates eight hammers 10. The impact of the hammers 10 may be varied by altering the position of the pivotally mounted cradle 28, supporting the driving springs 30. The lower end of the cradle is connected to a drag link 52, Fig. 1, articulated to a crank 50, having a hole 63 and a lug 64 for engagement with an arm 61 fast with a shaft 58. Rotation of the shaft 58, which imparts the pivotal action to the cradle 28 is controlled by a handle 54, which includes a set screw 66 to urge a cylinder 66 against a collar 56 to lock the crank 50 in its adjusted position.
