1,019,449. Paper-making apparatus. T. KOBAYASHI. Dec. 31,1964, No. 53005/64. Heading D2A. A paper-making machine has a horizontal row of web-forming units, each of which comprises a cylinder 1 and a flow-box 2 opening above it to supply stock over the surface of the cylinder, and an endless belt 6 passing under each cylinder in turn from a roll 4 spaced from the flow box to a couch roll 5. Flow boxes 2 and rolls 4 are adjustable horizontally and vertically. Belt 6 may be a felt, or a plastic or metal screen. The stock may drain by gravity through the wire cylinders 1, or alternatively suction boxes may be arranged around part or the whole of the inside of the cylinders. Suction roll 7, press rolls 8-10 and water showers 11 are also provided.
