Abstract
1,019,062. Transistor random noise generator. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. May 4, 1962 [May 8, 1961], Nos. 16651/61 and 32557/61. Headings H3B and H3T. An electrical noise generating circuit comprises an avalanche transistor J1 biased so that the transistor operates in the avalanche mode under the control of the collector junction random noise peaks when the latter are above a threshold level. In the circuit shown in Fig. 3 the output, from the avalanche transistor generator J1, comprising random positive pulses, is fed to a bi-stable triggering circuit 11, the output at terminal 12 of which, Fig. 4(a) (not shown), is a series of pulses of constant amplitude but random mark/space ratio. In order to keep the mean pulse rate constant the differentiated output pulses from trigger circuit 11 are fed to monostable triggering circuit 14 which provides a series of negative-going pulses of constant amplitude and pulse length for applying to the base of avalanche transistor J1 By varying the time duration of circuit 14 by means of capacitor C3 and resistor R4 the mean pulse rate at terminal 12 can be varied.
