1,018,849. Machine tool details. THOMPSON DESIGNS Inc. Feb. 1, 1963, No. 4246/63. Heading B3B. An indexing table assembly comprises a table 50 having a circular track containing balls 64 which engage a similar arrangement of balls 42 on a base 24, the tracks each having a ring 60, 38 connected one to the table and the other to the base for retaining the balls circumferentially. The table is centred on the base by a spigot 52. In each row of balls, one ball is replaced by a post 43 or 65 to prevent circulation of the balls. The table is raised and lowered by eccentrics 112, 114 on a manually-rotated shaft 104. The eccentrics apply a compressive force on the balls in their contacting position to clamp the table. Means 180 prevent lowering of the table when the circles of balls are not correctly positioned in relation to each other.
