Abstract

1,017,726. Linkwork. SOC. ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES. May 30, 1963 [June 4, 1962], No. 21587/63. Heading F2K. [Also in Division F1 In I.C. engine valve gear having a poppet valve actuated through a rocker arm and twopart expansible hydraulic link from a camshaft, part-spherical swivel surfaces 24a, 26, at the ends of the link act on the rocker arm and the valve stem. When valve 7 is seated, link parts 21, 22, are pushed away from each other by spring 31 and oil pressure is admitted from rocker arm passage 3 through passages 38, 39, chamber 41, duct 35 and past check-valve 34 which prevents oil outflow during the valve opening movement. The combined force of the oil pressure and spring 31 is less than that of spring 11 so that the expansible link acts to take up clearance. Valve 34 prevents oil outflow during the valve opening movement- In a modification the link stem 26 has a central duct for lubricating surface 28.
