Abstract

1,015,351. Nestable cups &c. PLASTIC PACKAGING Ltd. Feb. 21, 1962 [April 17, 1961], No. 13792/61. Heading A4A. A nestable receptacle, such as a cup 12, of flexible thin-walled material, has a conical side wall 12 and the base is formed with a recess containing one or more transversely extending ribs. As shown the base is formed with an external rim 18 and ribs 19 which merged at their ends into the rim 18 are spaced from a supporting surface on which the rim rests, and provide sufficient stiffness to support the weight of a hot liquid in the cup. The cup may be of a plastics material and has a lip rim 11, vertically spaced horizontal ribs 13 forming a finger hold, and circumferentially spaced indentations 15 at the base of the side wall forming a rim 16 which rests on a ledge 17 of the cup next below and prevents wedging when the cups are nested.
