Bread or biscuit crumbs are ground to a fine meal, mixed with protein meal, e.g. meat meal, molasses are added, and the mixture is formed into solid pieces. The mixture may be subjected to steam heating after being mixed with the molasses, and thereafter the moisture may be extracted from the solid pieces. Colouring and/or hardening material, e.g. bentonite, may also be added.
