Abstract

1,013,299. Bearings. GEORGE RICHARDS & CO. Ltd. Oct. 19, 1964 [Oct. 17, 1963], No. 41122/63. Heading F2A. In a fluid thrust bearing having two pressurepads 14, 15, Fig. 1, pressurized fluid is supplied to the pad 14 from a pump 13, via a restrictor 12, and is supplied to the pad 15 from the pad 14. A seal 17 is provided in the pad 15 to restrict the escape of pressurized fluid therefrom. In modifications, the pressure-pad 15 may contain a perforated disc 18, Fig. 2, or a plate 21, Fig. 3, having a hole 23 therethrough and shallow recesses 22 therein, sealing being effected by the periphery of the plate; and seals 24, Fig. 4, may be provided.
