Abstract
1,010,964. Grinding aspherical surfaces. DIRECTOR OF KOGYOGIJUTSUIN.Oct.28, 1961 [Dec. 14, 1960], No. 15511/61. Heading B3D. In a process of producing a precise aspherical surface A on a rotatable workpiece by means of a rotatable grinding tool B, the axis of rotation of the tool is angularly displaced with respect to the position of the axis of rotation of the tool necessary to produce a spherical surface, such as to produce the required aspherical surface on the workpiece. The axis of rotation of the tool may be displaced with respect to the axis of rotation of the tool necessary to produce a spherical surface such that the displaced axis lies in a plane parallel with the plane containing the axis of rotation necessary to produce the spherical surface, the displacement being effected prior to the angular displacement. In the arrangements shown in Figs. 5A and 5B a grinding wheel B 1 grinds a spherical surface and a grinding wheel B 2 grinds an aspherical surface. A machine for carrying out the process is shown in Fig. 6.
