Abstract

1,010,392. Gusseted bag. CANADIAN INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 24, 1964 [Sept. 12, 1963], No. 36003/63. Heading B8K. The gussets 5 (Fig. 5) in a block bottom bag of heat sealable plastics film are sealed at 11 so that after the bag is filled and the mouth 4 is closed a block bottom closure is formed. The seals 11 may extend over, or slightly beyond, the full width of gussets 5, so that when the mouth 4 is closed the sealing takes place over two thicknesses of material only. Alternatively the seals may not extend over the full width so that the internal gusset fold will keep the bag mouth open. The bag may be made from a gusseted tube, a single folded sheet or two superimposed sheets, and the material may be specially treated on the outside to take printing. All the sealing may be carried out by heated bars, hot wires or jets of hot air so that sealing and cutting take place simultaneously.
