Abstract

1,009,871. Shuttleless looms; dummy shuttles. OERLIKON-BUHRLE HOLDING A.G. July 2, 1962 [July 6, 1961], No. 25243/62. Heading D1E. A pick-length of weft is blown by a nozzle 2 into one end of a hollow body 11 of a shuttle for a loom of the travelling-wave shed type, and emerges from the other end, where means is provided to slow down the weft, thereby causing it to pile up inside the body. The retarding means may be a transverse bore 14 from which the weft end is ejected by an air jet 15 or by a plunger or by suction so that it can be held by jaws 16 until the shuttle has entered the shed. Or the weft emerging from the hollow body may strike a plate disposed normally or obliquely across its path; or a jet of air may blow directly or obliquely towards the outlet aperture of the hollow body; or the emerging weft may be caught in a perforated cup. The hollow body has holes 9 to permit some of the entering air to escape. Specifications 114,378, and German 1,072,569 are referred to.
