Abstract

1,009,670. Valves. T. W. DUFFELAN VAN. April 4, 1963 [April 5, 1962], No. 13091/62. Heading F2V. A valve controlling the supply and exhaust of fluid to a double-acting motor comprises motor ports 9, 10, an inlet port 8 and exhaust ports 11. The valve member comprises poppet valves 2, 3 fixed on a spindle 1 and co-operating with seats on the ends of spaced sleeves 21, 25, 23. Solenoids 7, 13 are fixed at either end of the casing and when energized, push the spindle to change over the connections of supply and exhaust respectively to the motor ports. The armatures 19 are loaded outwards by springs 17, 18 and when a solenoid is deenergized the spring forces the armature outwards against a cork buffer 15 or 16. With the solenoid 7 energised, the valve is in the position shown and the fluid pressure from the inlet 8 acts on poppet 2 to hold the valve in this position.
