Abstract

1,009,625. Melt-spinning. CHEMIEFASERWERK SCHWARZA " WILHELM PIECK ". Oct. 2, 1962, No. 37328/62. Addition to 816,877. Heading B5B. A spinneret plate according to Claims 4 and 5 of the parent Specification (wherein there is provided a spinneret plate having two or more orifices for the extrusion of individual filaments, the axes of which orifices may converge in the spinning direction, and means for bringing the filaments into contact with one another while they are still in a liquid or semi-liquid state and shortly after leaving the spinneret plate so that they adhere to one another to form composite filaments) is characterized in that the orifices in the spinneret plate are constituted by rectilinear or curved slots in closely adjacent relationship, at least one of said slots being provided with an enlarged portion or portions of circular cross-section. The slot or slots may be enlarged at the point thereof immediately adjacent another slot or slots (Figs. 1 to 12). The slots may be so disposed with relation to each other that hollow threads are produced, as shown, for example, in Figs. 7 to 10 in which two or more slots almost enclose an area of the spinneret plate which is free from orifices.
