Abstract

1,008,139. Cartons. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. Aug. 28, 1964 [Aug. 29, 1963], No. 35327/ 64. Heading B8P. A container for holding cartons, formed from a single blank as shown in Fig. 1, has one pair of end wall 12 flaps 12a, 12b each slotted along a line perpendicular to the flap hinge lines 14, 15. Each of these slots 22, 23 extends from the outer flap edge to a point short of the respective flap hinge line. The other end wall is constructed in two parts 13a, 13b lying at opposite ends of the container blank. The widths of these two parts 13a, 13b are not equal but are such that on folding about hinge line 18 the soft seal glue flap 24 of the end part 13b overlies the adhesion area 27 of end part 13a. At the retailer's the container full of cartons is placed so that glue flap 24 may be lifted to break the soft seal. As the pulling of the flap continues a hinge line between the upwardly raised half of the container and the tray comprising the bottom is formed across end wall 12 in line with the slots 22 and 23.
