Abstract

1,007,652. Floating roof tanks. WYATT INDUSTRIES Inc. Feb. 5, 1963 [Nov. 21, 1962], No. 4619/63. Heading E1T. In a tank, Fig. 1, having a floating roof 10 of the pontoon type the latter is sealed by means of a plurality of shoes 15, 16, 17 which jointly support a sealing diaphragm 40, 43 and are urged into contact with the link wall 7, 8 by spring strips 18, 24, 26 arranged as shown. In a modification, Fig. 4, the diaphragm is replaced by a toroidal bag 58 which is partially filled with liquid and pivotally suspended it 65 to a spring strap 50. Each of the above embodiments is provided with a weather shield 37 or 56 and adjustable spring-loaded centring means 73, 74 for fuller details of which Fig. 5 (not shown) should be referred to. The pontoon may slide along a fixed pipe serving as an anti-rotation and overflow structure, see Fig. 6 (not shown).
