Abstract
1,007,441. Switches, partly electromagnetic. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc. Dec. 2, 1963 [Dec. 4, 1962], No. 47478/63. Heading H2B. A permanent magnet 82 carried by a pushbutton 66 normally attracts an armature 78 so that on depression of the push-button a plunger 80 carried by the armature engages a push-button 36 of a bi-stable switch mechanism to move a change-over contact bridge from an upper to a lower position. The bridge is returned to its upper position by energization of an electromagnet 24 which causes a plunger 52 carried by an adjustably positioned armature 50 to engage a push-button 38 of the switch mechanism. On simultaneous actuation of the push-button 66 and electromagnet 24 the contact bridge is moved to its upper position and the armature 78 is detached from permanent magnet 82, rendering push-button 66 ineffective. A plurality of coupled switch mechanisms may be provided. The push-button 66 may be actuated manually or by a cam.
