Abstract

100,697. Dinesen, H. P. Jan. 10, 1916. Tables.-Materials such as corn, seeds, and other agricultural produce, contained in sacks or other porous and flexible containers, are dried by placing the sacks &c. over apertures formed in an inclined or horizontal partition, and creating a difference of air pressure between the two sides of the partition. The sacks &c. may be placed side by side over a single aperture. Gratings may be placed above the apertures, so that loose material not in sacks &c. may also be dried. The partition on which the sacks rest may consist, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, of planks 3, 7 connected by cross-pieces 4, 5, 6 at intervals; filling-pieces 12, 13, 14 are provided, the sacks resting on the pieces 14 and planks 7 and a rear plank 22; air is supplied to or removed from the triangular shaft formed by walls 9, 10 and the partition through a valve pipe 15. The weight of the sacks may open air valves, formed in the partition, to a greater or less extent. In modifications, the airpipe may be arranged between two partitions arranged back to back and supporting sacks; the sacks may be supported along two parallel lines at the top and sides, in the case of wet materials or those of great friction; the cross-pieces 6 may be movable laterally, and the top plank 3 vertically; and a grating 31, Fig. 8, may be arranged hingedly or in other removable way above the sacks.
