Abstract
1,006,695. Filling bags. BLACK PRODUCTS CO. June 19, 1962 [June 19, 1961], No. 23571/62. Heading B8C. A self-venting spout for a bag-filling machine such as that disclosed in Specification 881,776 comprises a passage 25, communicating with the material supply chamber 16 of the machine, and a vent passage 23 permitting escape of air from a bag 11 during filling thereof with a material such as cement; means 37 for closing the vent passage 23 are located between its outlet and a filter 26, and air supply means for cleaning the filter when the vent passage is closed are located between the vent closing means and filter. The filter is ring-shaped and made of small mesh wire screen, filter cloth or sintered bronze and may be sealed in place by a rubber ring 46. To clean the filter, air from a tube 43 is blown through manifold openings 44 to inflate a sleeve 37 to close off the vent passage. The air passes through smaller openings 45 and through the filter in the reverse direction to that of the vent air. The filter blow-out may be actuated manually or automatically.
