[Also in Division B7] - In a latching device for hatch covers or the like in which fittings at the hatch coaming 1 co-operate with studs or hooks 6 at the edges of the cover 4, the fittings being mounted in openings 7 in a horizontal flange 2 fixed to the coaming and adapted to be brought into action by means of a lever 10 provided with an eccentric part 11, each fitting consists of a main member 8 shaped as an inverted U adapted, in locking position, to co-operate with a stud or hook 6, the lever being swingably mounted at 9 between the shanks of the U-member extending through the flange, and a locking bar 14 mounted between said shanks after the fitting has been placed in the opening is attached to the lower side of the flange to form a counterpart for the eccentric 11 and a retainer for preventing removal of the fitting. A tool 13 provides an elongation of the lever arm 12.
