Abstract

1,005,258. Firebars. HODGKINSON BENNIS Ltd. July 20, 1964 [July 25, 1963], No. 29427/63. Heading F4B. A fire-bar comprises a cast-iron frame A open at the top and bottom, having transverse members connecting the two slides below the level of the top to support heat resistant nickelchrome or chrome alloy inserts B which are of a length below that at which thermal shock sets up excessive stresses, i.e. not exceeding three feet. Two L-shaped rows on either side of a T-shaped row of inserts are preferably used leaving spaces b for lateral expansion between them. Alternately only a portion of the firebar's top surface may be formed from the nickel-chrome or chrome alloy inserts, the remainder being formed from the cast iron frame or other cast iron inserts.
