1,004,437. Amusement apparatus. B. RIXEN. April 2, 1962 [April 5, 1961], No. 11579/65. Divided out of 1,004,436. Heading A6M. A method of starting a towing installation which comprises an elevated endless traction member provided with a plurality of coupling devices for towing devices consists in the towing device lying initially perpendicular to the traction line and the object attached to the towing device following a curve substantially at right angles and towards the traction member. The traction line 7 of a skiing installation is guided along a rectangular path by guide rollers 9 to 16 and a driving roller 8 supported so as to be adjustably inclined on masts 2 to 5. A skier conveys the end of a tow line 27 to a starting cage 16 on the mast 2. With the skier at the starting path 26, the attendant in the cage couples the end of the tow line to the traction member, the traction line being guided linearly at least the length of one tow line and the skier follows the curved path. Anchored balls 64 indicate deviations of 45 degrees and 60 degrees to the curves of constant travelling speed.
