Abstract

The invention comprises amino-monoazo dyes of formula <FORM:1003679/C4-C5/1> wherein R is the radical of an aromatic or heterocyclic amine, R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or hydroxyl group, one R2 is an alkyl or alkoxy group and the other R2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group. The dyes are prepared by coupling a diazotized atomatic or heterocyclic amine with a 7-amino-benzimidazole. The dyes are yellow to red and may be used as such or as intermediates for the manufacture of azo dyes.
