Abstract

The invention comprises monoazo dyes of formula <FORM:0973569/C4-C5/1> wherein X is a methyl or alkoxy group, which are prepared by diazotizing a 4-amino-2: 5-dialkoxy-or 4-amino-2-methyl-5-alkoxy-phenyl-b -hydroxyethyl-sulphone in the form of its sulphuric acid ester and coupling it with 1 - (41 - sulphophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone. The dyes give yellow shades on cellulose fibres. In Examples the preparation of the dyes, wherein X and O-alkyl are respectively CH3 and OCH3, CH3 and OC2H5, OCH3 and OCH3 and OC2H5 and OC2H5 is described.
