Abstract

1,002,923. Dispensing liquid under pressure. E. H. GREEN. Jan 24, 1963 [Jan. 30, 1962], No. 3075/63. Heading FIR. An aerosol dispenser valve is rotatable so that the orifice connecting the interior of the container with the outlet passage is variable in size thereby to vary the degree of atomization of the ejected liquid. A spray head 30 has a stem 31 provided with a semi-cylindrical skirt 34, which fits into a socket 23 of a valve plunger 22. The plunger is spring-loaded and a surface 24 thereof bears against a sealing gasket in the container Fig. 1 (not shown). A slot 37 fits over an island 40 in the socket 23 so as to allow 90 degrees rotation of the head 30. The slot 37 forms the orifice connecting the container with the bore 32 and the slot co-operates with an inclined surface of a recess 48, which extends for substantially 90 degrees and is of a smaller width than that of the wall 23<SP>1</SP>. In an alternative embodiment, the recess 48 is stepped in depth to provide three degrees of atomization.
