Abstract

1,002,870. Wash boilers. J. GOODER. July 20, 1964 [Nov. 20, 1963], No. 45755/63. Head ing F4X. A domestic wash boiler 10 comprises inner and outer containers 11 and 12, the inner one 11 having holes 13 in the centre of its base leading to a water space between said containers, the water space between the central zones of the bases 15 and 17 being narrower than the space between the outer zones of the bases and that between the container side walls, the inner container having near its top an inwardly extending depression 18 which is perforated with holes 19. The narrow water space at the base may be made by depressing a portion 14 of the inner container and/or by raising a portion of the outer container. An annular rim flange 20 of the inner container holds a gasket 21 which engages an inwardly swaged rim 22 of the outer container, the force providing the seal between the containers being given by clamps 25. A plug type lid 23 closes the boiler and carrier handles 27 may be fitted. A heat source, e.g. a gas ring or electric element, is normally applied underneath the boiler and in use water flows through the holes 13 and then radially outwardly through the interspace between the boxes, upwardly between the container walls and reenters the inner container as a spray or shower through the perforations 19.
