Abstract

1,002,841. Reciprocating pumps. SINGER-COBBLE Ltd. Jan. 2, 1964 [Oct. 4, 1962], No. 37671/62. Heading F1A. Plungers 11, 12 are reciprocated in cylinders 13, 14 by screw and nut mechanisms driven through gearing 6, 7, 8 by a reversible electric motor 2, the position of reversal being adjusted by a tappet actuated reversing switch 30 which also controls inlet and outlet valves 15, 16 through solenoids 20, 22. The cylinders have separate inlets and a common outlet leading to a nozzle 25. The speed of the electric motor may be controlled and the gear ratio may be altered. In a modification the cylinders are coaxially arranged and various sizes of plungers may be accommodated by changing the gland devices in the cylinders.
