Abstract

100,249. Soc. Anon. des Etablissements Delaunay-Belleville. April 2, 1915, [Convention date]. Compression engines.-To produce a uniform torque on the crank-shaft and to ensure balance in an eight-cylinder Diesel engine, the cylinders are arranged two on each side of charging-pumps B<1>, B<2> and their pistons are connected to cranks displaced by 45 degrees. The cranks of the pumps B<1>, B<2> are 180 degrees apart and are in the same plane as the oppositely-disposed cranks of a pair of auxiliary air-compressing pumps I<1>, P. The plane containing the cranks of the compressors makes an angle of 22¢ degrees with one of the engine cranks.
