Abstract

1,002,306. Educational appliances. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd. July 6, 1962 [July 6, 1961; Dec. 29, 1961], Nos. 24424/61 and 46715/61. Heading G5G. [Also in Division F4] A back-lighted display panel comprises a transparent or translucent screen 3, Fig. 1, to which is bonded one side of at least one openended cellular grid 5 and at least one electric lamp-holder 50, Fig. 3, having at least two retaining parts 51A, 51B and 52A, 52B which engage parts adjacent the screen of two opposite walls of a cell. The cell walls are opaque and some may be broken away. The retaining parts each comprise two V-springs carried by cross-pieces 51, 52 which fit in at the top and bottom of a cell with straight ends 53A, 53B engaging the opposite cell walls adjacent where they bond with the screen. The cross-pieces carry conducting rods 54-54C between which is carried a lamp-holder 56 held in a square or round rubber grommet 55 which grips the rods whereby one or more plane or coloured lamps enter a cell or cells between the retaining parts to illuminate an object in front of the screen. Moving parts mounted on the panel may be driven from moving parts in the cells.
