Abstract

1,001,454. False-twist spindles. ONDERZOEKINGSINSTITUUT RESEARCH N.V. Sept. 4, 1962 [Sept. 12, 1961], No. 33814/62. Heading D1D. In a method of false twisting a running yarn by causing the yarn to be slidably wrapped around a rotating member, the rotating member is axially supported by the ballooning yarn travelling from the member to a fixed, co-axially positioned thread guiding eyelet. In one embodiment (Fig. 1) the false twist "spindle" is a short circuited armature 3 in the form of a ring which is rotated by a rotating magnetic field set up by coils 2. The yarn is wrapped at least once around the ring in one of the two grooves 4 arranged on the underside of the ring. In another embodiment (Fig. 2) spindle 7 is radially supported by belt 11, and by two sets of wheels 12, 13 mounted on two bushes 14. The yarn passes through at least one of four passages 9 arranged in the flanged outer surface 8. The spindle may be inclined to the vertical, or may be horizontal. Alternatively the spindle may be rotated by having a plurality of blades or grooves onto which compressed air is directed. Reference has been directed to the Comptroller to Specification 920, 707.
