Description
The present invention relates to an underwater aquatic bike intended for leisure activities such as water walks, muscle maintenance and strengthening activities, or even sporting challenges with friends in particular.
- Classic type bicycles fixed in the middle of a floor itself held by crosspieces resting on longitudinal buoys located on either side of the entire bicycle in order to keep the entire bicycle floating out of the water. The user is then conventionally seated on the saddle above the water level, while the pedaling movement will actuate a partially submerged paddle type wheel which will generate a movement on the surface of said bicycle, the trajectory being ensured by a handlebars connected to a submerged rudder. In this type of configuration the user remains out of the water.
- Another existing model approximately resembles a classic bicycle but rests on a pair of transverse skates similar to skis, and fixed to the front and rear of the structure of said bicycle. A handlebar controls a rudder located at the front. When starting, only part of the crankset is submerged. The user, out of the water sitting on the saddle or standing on the pedals, then causes, by means of the handlebars, a front lifting of the bike to rear it up, while generating intense pedaling to extract the entire top level of the water and activate a turbine. The combination of these intense efforts causes advancement on the surface of the body of water by flotation of the skates which provides the whole with an operating analogy with a hydrofoil assembly.
- Other models exist for use in swimming pools, or even in individual bathtubs. Their particularities lie in particular in that they are totally submerged and devoid of any flotation capacity, and therefore rest at the bottom of the swimming pool or at the bottom of an aquatic bathtub. They are devoid of any ability to move in the water during pedaling sequences, only remaining outside the water is a part of the handlebars which only has a function of assisting with support and support. user balance.
- Other families exist in the form of tubular and profiled aquatic vehicles, allowing a user to be towed freely over or under a body of water, a device consisting of an electric motor and a propeller in order to move the diver then simply holding on to handles. To do this, the diver equips himself or not with a snorkel, or even diving tanks to engage in underwater movement, his body then being passive and totally submerged.
- A completely different model comes in the form of a small inflatable boat equipped with a seat allowing a fisherman to sit and harnessed on the boat where only his legs are dangling in the water. He is then equipped with waders while putting fins on each of his feet. The alternating beating of its submerged feet allows it to move slowly over the water as it carries out its fishing activities.
- There is a model called a small aquatic thruster materialized by a narrow central beam on which the user lies down either in a prone position or in a dorsal position to pedal, all while being partially on the body of water. Two floats, one at the front and one at the rear, are integral and fixed on this central beam, and ensure the flotation of the whole. The movement is ensured by a propeller whose rotation is controlled by the user's pedaling in this lying position, while the latter directs the whole by means of his hands or by the inclination of his body while remaining lying on the central beam.
The aquatic bike, the subject of this presentation and request, differs in particular in its design and its production, by a total immersion of its structure whose buoyancy is ensured by a plurality of floats. This allows cycling in a seated position or in a "dancing position", as called in cycling circles, both for the purposes of walking, exploring the environment, and for sporting activities, by pedaling always carried out with, at a minimum, the entire lower part of the user's body submerged.
This structure is preserved while floating under the surface of the body of water, by a set of floats integral with the structure, floats with calibrated load characteristics. One (or more) first sub-assembly(s) of lateral float(s) is(are) located at the front and is(are) orientable(s) in the direction by a handlebar. A second sub-assembly(s) of the fixed side float(s) is(are) fixed and located at the rear of the bicycle. Said floats, thus positioned, provide, through their track and wheelbase, the greatest stability of the whole on the water. These two float sub-assemblies are hinged on the structure to be foldable when the bike exits the body of water. In use in an aquatic environment, due to the flotation of the structure below the water level of the aquatic plane, and due to the calibrated admissible load characteristics of the floats, only the lower part of the body of its user, then seated in position cyclist on a saddle attached to the structure, is then submerged. With the legs then submerged, the user causes, by underwater pedaling at more or less sustained frequencies, a more or less rapid dynamic evolution of the bicycle according to a trajectory dependent on the orientation which it will give to the handlebars articulated on the structure . Due to its immersion, and throughout its evolution in depths not systematically discernible by sight, the structure of the bicycle is equipped with protections and visual signaling informing of the occurrence of insufficient draft, and /or obstacles or objects not seen underwater.
The use of the underwater aquatic bike, subject of the request, is characterized by the presence of calibrated floats ensuring, empty as well as loaded and, up to a predefined limit load, (for example a total load of 150 kg) , the underwater buoyancy of its structure and its mechanism of evolution as soon as the draft is exceeded allowing the buoyancy of the whole. This total acceptable loaded weight is the addition of the weight of the bicycle and its user, the floats then being partially submerged in proportion to the loads supported within the calibrated and admissible limit for the determined flotation. This buoyancy is ensured by one or more front float(s) fixed on a housing having freedom of rotation on the frame of said bicycle and oriented in trajectory by a handlebar and free in horizontal rotation along a radius of predetermined curvature. One or more rear float(s) preferably do not have this possibility of horizontal rotation and is(are) fixed to the structure of said bicycle. This underwater suspension assembly allows its user to move in the water by assisted or unassisted pedaling, while maintaining the lower part of their body (legs, thighs and partially their trunk) below the water level, from made of the suspension effect assumed by all the floats. The structure of this bike also has a detection and information device relating to insufficient depth, or the presence of obstacles during its evolution with regard to its draft, as well as a shield (or fairing ) of deflection of semi-submerged floating bodies.
Figures 1 to 25 schematize and illustrate different configurations presenting similarities between them due to the possibilities of realization of this aquatic bike.

- Dans leur conception et leur réalisation, et suivant divers modes de réalisation, de fonctionnalités, et autres raisons d’encombrement et de stockage les flotteurs sont susceptibles de se configurer comme suit, à savoir ;
- Dans leur conception et leur réalisation, et suivant divers modes de réalisation, de fonctionnalités, et autres raisons d’encombrement et de stockage les flotteurs sont susceptibles de se configurer comme suit, à savoir ;

- Gouvernail, selon la figure 9 et la figure 10, fixé en partie inférieure à l’avant du cadre de vélo depuis un carter au sein duquel la liaison et l’asservissement en rotation avec le guidon s’effectue sur un arbre commun ;
- A frame made of stainless material and tubular frame, or a frame made of material based on reinforced plastic or other composite material, such as fiberglass and matrix based on various resins.
- A set of inflatable type floats made using polyurethane, or "registered trademark" Hypalon for example, or, according to another embodiment, rigid floats made from high density polyethylene, or even closed cell polyethylene foam with reinforced frame. The track and the wheelbase resulting from the respective positions of these floats will guarantee the best stability in a horizontal plane of the bicycle on the body of water by notably materializing a waterline.
- In their design and their production, and according to various embodiments, functionalities, and other reasons of bulk and storage, the floats are likely to be configured as follows, namely;
- For assured buoyancy, at the front, of the bike:
- The float(s) will be mechanically secured to a handlebar which is itself fixed and articulated on the frame of the bicycle, according to known and existing embodiments on existing bicycles.
- Two floats positioned one to the right and the other to the left of the bicycle frame, and fixed by their lateral hinges (28) and (28') on suspension arms. (29). This suspension arm-float(s) assembly can itself be dismantled and fixed by hinges (30) to the bicycle chassis. The fixing of these suspension arms on the bicycle chassis can be ensured by a quick screw mechanism, either on an angular sector with the installation of an index (31) according to a position, either for transport or storage or in the position of horizontal use of the bicycle. position ensured by a stop plate (32) secured to the chassis. Thus produced, these floats can then be folded down, according to figure 2 and figure.3, to minimize their bulk during transport or storage, or deploy, like a butterfly wing principle, up to the surface of the body of water to thus ensure buoyancy in conjunction with the flotation assembly located at the rear of the bike
- In another embodiment, this buoyancy can be ensured, according to Figure 22, by a single float (42) hinged to a suspension arm on an articulated yoke fixed to the bicycle chassis. This articulation, according to a longitudinal amplitude in the axis of evolution of the bicycle, allows its folding into the storage position, shown in dotted lines (42') or its positioning in a horizontal buoyancy position in conjunction with the flotation assembly (43 ), located at the rear of the bike.
- In combination with any of these embodiments, this or these front float(s), slave(s) to the position of the handlebar, (3) can be made to include or integrate into their immersed part(s), a hydrodynamic profile, prominent according to Figures 22 to 25 section CC in order to act like a rudder
- For assured buoyancy at the rear of the bike:
- Two floats (5) and (5') positioned one to the right and the other to the left of the bicycle chassis, and fixed by their lateral hinges of the type (28) and (28') on suspension arms (29 ) and (29'). This suspension arm-float(s) assembly can itself be dismantled and fixed by hinges to the rear part of the bicycle chassis. The fixing of these suspension arms to the bicycle chassis can be ensured by a quick-screw mechanism, either on an angular sector with the installation of an index of the type (31), depending on a position, either for transport or storage, or in the horizontal use position of the bicycle, position ensured by a stop plate (32) secured to the chassis (1). Thus produced, these floats can then be folded down to minimize the transport or storage surface, or deployed, like a butterfly wing principle, up to the surface of the body of water to thus ensure buoyancy in combination with the flotation assembly located at the front of the bike
- In another embodiment, and according to Figures 22 to 25, this buoyancy can be ensured by a single float (43) fixed by an articulated yoke fixed to the chassis of the bicycle. This articulation, in the axis of evolution of the bicycle, allows the flap of this float in the storage position, shown in dotted lines (43') or its positioning in its horizontal buoyancy position in conjunction with the flotation assembly located at the front of the bike
- In addition to any of these embodiments, Figures 22 to 25, this or these float(s) can be made to include or integrate into their submerged part(s) s), a prominent hydrodynamic profile according to section CC and DD in order to amplify or reinforce horizontal stability on the body of water.
- For assured buoyancy, at the front, of the bike:
- In their design and their production, and according to various embodiments, functionalities, and other reasons of bulk and storage, the floats are likely to be configured as follows, namely;
- A set of motors capable of various embodiments, namely:
- According to Figure 1, a crankset equipped with 2 pedals acting on one or two impellers (24), located in the axis of the crankset, a solution commonly found on aquatic bikes used mainly in swimming pools.
- According to Figure 7, a pedal board, equipped with two pedals motorizing, by their pedaling effect, the rotation of a propeller (33) fixed to the rear of a casing (34) which includes a rotation multiplier mechanism via a known gear mechanism, gearbox type.
- According to Figure 8, a pedal board, equipped with two pedals motorizing, by their pedaling effect, the rotation of a propeller (35) fixed to the rear of a casing (36) which includes a rotation multiplier mechanism via a known gear mechanism, gearbox type. In this type of embodiment, the propeller support could have freedom of rotation in a horizontal plane controlled by the rotation of the handlebars, according to a cable return mechanism for example. As a result, this propeller would have two functions, namely, the movement of the bicycle as well as its trajectory responding to the requests of the handlebars, the propeller then acting like a rudder, a device known on any outboard type boat model. .
- According to
- In terms of motorization, and for each of these various modes of configuration, and as existing on current and known bicycles, it is conceivable to integrate, in a waterproof manner, an electric pedaling assistance powered by a sealed battery, or even, to the point of only installing a motorization assembly in place of any pedaling device, and having controls on the handlebars which would be similar, in some way, to a moped. In this case, it is also conceivable to directly install a commonly manufactured electronic sounder, popularized on various boats. The presence of this type of sounder will not justify the draft detection mechanism defined elsewhere.
- A rudder controlled in its rotation by the rotation of the handlebars, the embodiments and implementation of which could be as follows:
- Rudder, according to Figure 9 and Figure 10, fixed in the lower part at the front of the bicycle frame from a casing within which the connection and rotation control with the handlebars takes place on a common shaft;
- Rudder (6) according to Figure 7 and located on a casing fixed in the lower rear part of the bicycle within which the connection and rotation control with the handlebars is carried out from a transmission by cable and return pulleys or other rods. This type of rudder would be installed behind the propulsion propeller (33), and free in this rotation on a support plate fixed to the chassis of the bicycle.
- Rudder according to Figure 8 - materialized by a movable rotating propeller (35) and fixed on a support plate fixed on the frame of the bicycle. Like an outboard type boat propeller for example, the angular rotation position of this propeller would be controlled by the directional rotation of the handlebars.
- Rudder according to Figure 11, materialized by a profiling of the float(s) located at the front of the bicycle (9) and (9'), according to a central hydrodynamic profiling possibly supplemented by lateral profilings of the manta ray type according to Figure 13 or multihull boat.

- A pedal board (23) equipped with paddles and paddle wheels (24) whose grip on the water and rotation at more or less sustained pedaling frequencies will cause a dynamic evolution within the body of water.
- A pedal board (23) equipped with two pedals, motorizing, by their pedaling effect, the rotation of a propeller (33).
- A pedal board (23) equipped with two pedals, motorizing, by their pedaling effect, the rotation of a propeller (35), which propeller has freedom of rotation in a horizontal plane controlled by the rotation of the handlebars. This propeller then ensures movement of the bicycle, in a trajectory responding to the requests of the handlebars, the propeller then acting like a rudder.
- A crankset (23) acting by its rotation via a toothed wheel (38) and a belt transmission (39) the rotation of a rear wheel equipped with blades (40) according to a reduction diameter ratio.
- In terms of motorization, and for each of these configuration modes, electric pedal assistance is integrated with controls on the handlebars and powered by a waterproof battery.
- Rudder (37) attached to the front of the bicycle frame
- Rudder (6) fixed in the lower rear part of the bicycle located behind the propulsion propeller (33)
- Rudder materialized by a propeller (35) controlled in rotation by the directional rotation of the handlebars (3)
- Rudder materialized by one or more floats (9, 9') (42, 42') located at the front of the bicycle according to a central hydrodynamic profiling possibly supplemented by lateral profilings.
- A partial rotation (g) of this detection arm (7), rotation limited by a stop (17) secured to the chassis (1) of the bicycle.
- A support function to facilitate its transport outside the body of water, on sand, pebble or other hard ground (44) as soon as the bike is placed on this type of ground, when this partial rotation (g) is achieved.
