Description
This patent of invention relates to a device for moving an image matrix sensor in the useful focusing volume of a controlled lens. The device for moving along two axes, a sensor in the focal plane allows, by moving in the plane (0,X,Y), to have a very high resolution synthesis sensor (CSHR), the third axis (O,Z) of the mark (O,X,Y,Z) makes it possible to artificially vary the focal length of the optics by moving the sensor along an axis perpendicular to the plane of the output lens of the objective.
This way of proceeding, object of the present invention, presents numerous advantages both in technical and financial aspects. The device operates with a limited transmission rate since the information flow is limited to a fraction of the CSHR sensor. In addition, the energy consumption of the CSHR is significantly lower than that of a sensor of equivalent size and overall resolution. Among other advantages, the CSHR system, object of the present invention, is of technical and financial interest since the unit cost of a CSHR is low in comparison with an image sensor of equivalent size and resolution. It makes it possible to achieve performance levels currently only accessible by equipment with a much greater logistical footprint.
The field of digital vision and sensors is constantly evolving and the resolution of sensors continues to increase. This race for the number of pixels is nevertheless hampered by the price of technologies, energy consumption, and the complexity of processing and transferring very resolved images. The CSHR approach, the subject of the present invention, allows the creation of a long-distance and very high resolution vision device on areas of interest, without the use of a very high resolution sensor. The CSHR approach, the subject of the present invention, is low cost, scalable and can integrate advanced signal processing without requiring remote computational resources. Equipped with such versatile optical, mechanical and electronic characteristics, the CSHR can be used as a deposited, autonomous and tele-operable sensor.
The CSHR device has a specific enclosure in which the image sensor is placed on a motorized plate along three axes (OX, OY, OZ). This enclosure will be able to meet specific sealing criteria and integrate suitable connectivity without modifying the present invention. The CSHR also integrates its control-command electronics, dialogue and information transfer to the user. This speaker has a ring allowing the adaptation of a controlled or uncontrolled lens. This feature allows the use of robust and low-cost optics. Depending on the case, the integration of specific optics/objectives may require an adapter ring without modifying the present invention. The CSHR can also integrate its own energy source (batteries, batteries, solar panel, etc.) as well as any other complementary accessory electronic module: pointing, day/night detection, calculation unit, GPS geolocation, GSM, WiFi, vibration sensor , PAN & Tilt type positioning module… (non-exhaustive list), without modifying the present invention.
The device differs from the state of the art by the use of movements at the sensor level not for the purpose of image stabilization (PENTAX sensors and similar) but to constitute a high-resolution synthesis sensor. In addition to the technical innovation, the simplicity of implementation and the lower cost of production and use make this approach economically very interesting for all long-distance vision applications.
The device which is the subject of this patent makes it possible to carry out selective image compression by mechanical movement of the sensor. Unlike compression algorithms which require the processing of a complete stream, the device covered by this patent will allow the transmission of video streams preferably for certain positions of the sensor corresponding to areas of interest marked by the user.
Unlike current high-resolution vision devices, the device covered by this patent is not intended to constitute a high-resolution image in a single acquisition as would a full-format “global shutter” type sensor. On the contrary, full-field acquisition will be done by successive movements of a sensor and registration of the sub-images between them to synthesize a high-resolution acquisition (CSHR principle). The device differs in particular from “push broom” type satellite imaging solutions in the sense that the sensor of the invention is moved along two axes and is of the matrix type and not in strips. One of the innovations of CSHR is to use the full resolution of the image sensor mainly only on areas of interest identified by the user.

The CSHR is a highly integrated device with four degrees of freedom. Three degrees of freedom allow the image sensor to be moved within the focal volume defined by the lens. The fourth degree of freedom allows you to act directly on the lens, for example on its manual ZOOM function, a diaphragm, etc. The objectives selected are preferably not electronically controlled, but any controllable objective (NIKON®, NIKKOR®, CANON®, PENTAX®, SIGMA®, etc.) can be considered without modifying the present invention. Thus, depending on the optics chosen to equip the CSHR, there may or may not be one or more control axes or one or more control channels for a natively motorized lens.
An additional degree of freedom is envisaged in a multispectral version of the CSHR to integrate on demand optical filters mounted on a motorized barrel and itself placed on the optical path of the light between the objective and the sensor of the CSHR. A CSHR thus equipped with filters equipped with defined spectral bands/windows carries out multispectral acquisition controlled according to the same methods as those previously described above.
The CSHR device is not limited to the visible spectrum only. Infra-red optics and an infrared sensor or any other frequency bands can equip the CSHR without modifying the present invention.
The CSHR as described can be integrated into a box without this impacting the innovative character or the claims of the present. In such a configuration, the box itself can be controlled in orientation such as site and bearing without calling into question the innovative character of the present.
With its three degrees of freedom at the sensor level in relation to its optics, the CHSR is a versatile high-definition observation tool with adjustable focal length that can be integrated into any information chain, including critical security applications. Tele-operable, the CSHR makes it possible to carry out information, intelligence and target tracking operations in supervised mode or, in a later version, in semi-automated mode (for example by on-board artificial intelligence). Finally, the CSHR can also constitute an embedded device for applications requiring wide-field and high-capacity monitoring but with limited throughput or energy. Indeed, the CSHR performs mechanical compression of the information and has significantly lower energy consumption than a full-format sensor with the equivalent resolution/field. In image acquisition mode on defined areas, the number of pixels to transmit is lower than with a full-field sensor, therefore faster, less energy-consuming and also more discreet. Simple to implement, the CSHR can be adjusted remotely, in remote mode and in complete safety.
