Description
The technical field concerns vehicle hoods designed to fold under the effect of a pedestrian head impact, as well as hood liners designed to form such a hood by assembly with a hood skin. The invention also relates to vehicles equipped with such a hood.
In terms of road safety, automobile manufacturers must face several concerns which define constraints to be taken into account when developing new vehicles.
The first concern is obviously to ensure the safety of the vehicle's passengers. In addition to this first concern, automobile manufacturers are also attentive to improving the safety of other road users, particularly the most vulnerable such as pedestrians. Thus, automobile manufacturers seek to minimize the risk of injuries and trauma likely to be inflicted on a pedestrian in the event of a collision with a vehicle, particularly to the head.
The behavior of motor vehicles in the event of a collision with a pedestrian is regulated and tested by implementing very demanding standardized tests, the success of which with good results constitutes a good qualitative criterion for a customer when choosing their next vehicle.
Les tests normalisés sont, par exemple, décrits par l’organisme international Euro NCAP.The standardized tests, hereinafter referred to as pedestrian impacts, aim to simulate a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle and assess the extent to which the motor vehicles tested protect pedestrians, as well as the potential risks of injury to several areas of the body, including the head and legs. To do this, standardized tests involve projecting impact elements onto the vehicle to be tested at a predetermined relative speed, of the order of 40 kilometers per hour. The striking elements have a particular shape, adapted to each area of the body considered and are arranged at predefined relative positions in order to strike the vehicle, during pedestrian head impact, with predefined forces and directions of impact, so as to represent the respective average positions of a head, femur or leg of an average standing pedestrian before impact. Standardized tests are, for example, described by the international organization Euro NCAP.
Safety measures implemented on vehicles to minimize the risk of injury to a pedestrian's head generally involve active and/or passive safety means linked to the vehicle's engine hood.
In the event of an impact, a pedestrian's head generally hits a central area of the hood. Most safety measures aim to accompany the movement of the pedestrian's head by causing the hood to collapse downward. For example, document FR2974557 describes a hood with a lining element designed to stiffen the hood, having a cut-out slot which forms a weakening of the lining element sufficient to cause its deformation in the event of impact from a pedestrian's head. However, the cut-out slot is located far in front of the hood, that is to say near the bumper, and may prove insufficient for certain new vehicle silhouettes.
Thus, there is a need for a technical solution making it possible to give the hood adequate rigidity to resist the effects of dynamic wind when the vehicle is moving or even when a user rests on the hood, while offering adequate behavior during an impact of a pedestrian's head, here called pedestrian head impact.
The present invention aims to overcome the problems explained above. In this technical context, an aim of the present invention is to provide a hood lining which has a capacity for deformation under the effect of a pedestrian head impact.
For this purpose, the present invention relates to a hood lining of a motor vehicle, intended to be fixed on an internal face of a hood skin to form a hood, the lining having at least one reinforcing element extending along a longitudinal direction of the hood, when the lining is assembled on the hood skin, the reinforcing element being designed to stiffen the hood, the hood lining comprising at least one weakening zone designed to initiate folding of the lining, when a vehicle equipped with the hood suffers a pedestrian head impact, the lining being characterized in that at least one reinforcing element is crossed transversely by at least one weakening zone.
The invention also relates to a motor vehicle hood comprising a hood lining according to the invention fixed on an internal face of a hood skin.
L’invention concerne également un véhicule comprenant un capot selon l’invention. The invention also relates to a vehicle comprising a hood according to the invention.
Thus, the hood lining according to the invention makes it possible to form a hood according to the invention. Thanks to each reinforcing element of the lining, the hood has adequate rigidity to the touch or even under the effect of a dynamic wind experienced by the vehicle according to the invention during movement. In the event of a pedestrian head impact, each weakening zone allows the lining and therefore the hood to begin folding to support the pedestrian's head. By being located on a reinforcing element, each weakening zone makes it possible to weaken the strongest elements of the lining. The lining according to the invention therefore makes it possible to cause the hood to fold optimally under the effect of a pedestrian head impact.
According to one embodiment of the invention, each reinforcing element is crossed by at least one weakening zone.
Advantageously, each reinforcing element is crossed by at least two distinct weakening zones.
Advantageously, the weakening zones are distributed on each reinforcing element symmetrically around the middle of the corresponding reinforcing element.
According to one possibility, each reinforcing element forms a strap obtained by stamping the lining so as to form a space between the lining and the hood skin, when the lining is assembled on the hood skin.
Advantageously, each weakening zone is formed by a sheet metal stamping, so as to form a narrowing of the reinforcing element.
The invention will be better understood on reading the detailed description which follows, given solely by way of non-limiting example and made with reference to the appended drawings in which:
In these figures, the same references are used to designate the same elements.
A hood lining 1 according to the invention, illustrated in the figures, is intended to equip a hood 2 of a motor vehicle according to the invention, illustrated in the figures. The lining 1 is intended to be fixed on an internal face 3 of a cover skin 4 to form the cover 2. The lining 1 and the cover skin 4 are, for example, formed from stamped sheets. The hood lining 1 is designed to be placed inside the engine compartment of the vehicle according to the invention while the hood skin 4 constitutes the external and visible face of the hood 2.
The hood lining 1 according to the invention comprises at least one weakening zone 7 designed to initiate the folding of the lining 1, when a vehicle equipped with the hood 2 undergoes a pedestrian head impact, more particularly when a head of a pedestrian hits the cover 2. It is understood that the folding of the lining 1 takes place so that the cover 2 disappears under the pressure of the pedestrian and therefore that the lining 1 undergoes a folding such that the fold moves towards the engine compartment.
The lining 1 is particular in that at least one reinforcing element 5 is crossed transversely by at least one weakening zone 7. In particular, each reinforcing element 5 is crossed by at least one weakening zone 7, in occurrence of two distinct weakening zones 7. The use of two weakening zones 7 allows effective folding of the straps 6 regardless of the location of the impact with the pedestrian's head.
As illustrated in the figures, the weakening zones 7 are distributed on each reinforcing element 5 symmetrically around the middle M of the corresponding reinforcing element 5.
En cas de choc piéton tête, le capot 2 subit un pliage grâce aux zones d’affaiblissement 7.Thus, the lining 1 according to the invention gives the cover 2 adequate rigidity thanks to each reinforcing element 5. The presence of one or more weakening zones 7 makes it possible to weaken these reinforcing elements 5, under certain particular constraints encountered during a pedestrian head impact. In the event of a pedestrian head impact, the cover 2 undergoes folding thanks to the weakening zones 7.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment of the lining described above, only by way of example, but other embodiments can be designed by those skilled in the art without departing from the framework and scope. of the present invention.
