Description
The invention relates to the field of vehicle connectivity, and in particular to the field of secure connectivity for vehicles equipped with driving assistance systems, for intelligent vehicles (also called autonomous), etc.
Driving assistance systems, often called by the English acronym ADAS (for “Advanced driver-assistance systems”), allow the driver to optimize their perception of the environment and/or detect certain risks, etc. . Among these systems, certain systems are intended to improve safety (braking assistance, lane keeping assistance, anti-collision system, speed limiter/control, etc.). Driver assistance systems use and process information from various sensors and cameras to provide instructions to organs or actuators such as the braking system, accelerator, steering system, etc.
It is therefore particularly important that the transmission of information and instructions between the different elements of the driving assistance system is absolutely flawless, and that in the event of a failure this is immediately brought to the attention of the driver and/or or any other user.
To this end, it is desirable that the connection elements involved in the operation of the driving assistance system be as reliable as possible.
To date, we know various ways to improve the reliability of connectors. For example, we know ways to check that the contacts are present and well positioned in the connector cavities using contact position assurance devices (“Terminal Position Assurance” or TPA in English). We also know ways to check that a connector is properly coupled with a counter-connector using devices for ensuring the position of the connectors which we will call below "CPA device" (for "Connector Position Insurance” in English). But, during the life of a connector, a device for ensuring the position of the connectors may open (for example, under the effect of vibrations, creep of the plastic material, etc.) or not have been closed or closed during initial assembly or during maintenance.
This type of inconvenience places limits on the safety of vehicles equipped with driver assistance systems.
There is therefore a need to further improve the reliability of automotive connectivity.
The present disclosure proposes an at least partial response to the aforementioned need.
For this purpose, an electrical control circuit comprising a connection assembly for a motor vehicle is described below. This assembly itself includes a connector and a counter-connector. The control circuit includes an alert device configured to signal a failed connection of the connection assembly. The connector includes a main housing and a CPA device to ensure the position of the connector in full mating position with the counter connector. The CPA device is configured to be movable between a first position and a second position. The second position of the CPA can only be occupied by the CPA device if the connector is completely mated with the counter-connector. This control circuit further comprises two conductive elements and a shunt. The two conductive elements and the shunt are configured to modify the open or closed state of the control circuit, by cooperation with the CPA device, when the CPA device is in its second position. This modification of the control circuit (change from the open state to the closed state of the control circuit or vice versa) generates information transmitted to the alert device.
Thus, the movement of the CPA which itself guarantees the correct and complete connection of the connector with the counter-connector is at the origin of information usable to detect a possible failure of the connection of the connector connection assembly / counter-connector.
This circuit also possibly includes one and/or the other of the following characteristics, each considered independently of one another or in combination with one or more others:
- le dispositif CPA est configuré pour que dans sa deuxième position il coopère avec le shunt, le shunt étant lui-même configuré pour fermer le circuit par mise en court-circuit des deux éléments conducteurs, lorsqu’il interagit avec le dispositif CPA dans sa deuxième position ;the CPA device is configured so that in its second position it cooperates with the shunt, the shunt itself being configured to close the circuit by short-circuiting the two conductive elements, when it interacts with the CPA device in its second position position ;
The present disclosure also relates to a connector suitable for integration into a circuit such as that mentioned above. It includes a cable guide cover, and the two conductive elements and the shunt are placed in the cable guide cover.
This connector also possibly includes one and/or the other of the following characteristics, each considered independently of one another or in combination with one or more others:
- les deux éléments conducteurs sont logés dans un boîtier de connecteur secondaire monté dans le capot guide-câbles ;the two conductive elements are housed in a secondary connector housing mounted in the cable guide cover;
- le shunt est monté sur un support lui-même monté dans le capot guide-câbles ;the shunt is mounted on a support itself mounted in the cable guide cover;
- le shunt comporte au moins une languette élastique de mise en pression configurée pour interagir avec le dispositif CPA dans sa deuxième position et au moins une languette élastique de contact configurée pour établir un contact avec au moins l’un des éléments conducteurs ;the shunt comprises at least one elastic pressurizing tab configured to interact with the CPA device in its second position and at least one elastic contact tab configured to establish contact with at least one of the conductive elements;
- il comprend un levier d’aide à l’accouplement configuré pour libérer le dispositif CPA de sa première position lorsque il est dans une position fermée dans laquelle le connecteur est complètement accouplé à un contre-connecteur.it includes a mating assist lever configured to release the CPA device from its first position when it is in a closed position in which the connector is fully mated to a counter-connector.
The present disclosure also relates to a method for checking the connection of a connection assembly for a motor vehicle comprising the following steps:
- la fourniture de l’ensemble de connexion, cet ensemble comprenant lui-même un connecteur et un contre-connecteur, au moins le connecteur étant électriquement relié à un circuit électrique de contrôle comprenant un dispositif d’alerte configuré pour signaler une connexion défaillante de l’ensemble de connexion, et ce connecteur comprenant un dispositif CPA pour s’assurer de la position du connecteur en position d’accouplement complet avec le contre-connecteur,the provision of the connection assembly, this assembly itself comprising a connector and a counter-connector, at least the connector being electrically connected to an electrical control circuit comprising an alert device configured to signal a faulty connection of the 'connection assembly, and this connector comprising a CPA device to ensure the position of the connector in the position of complete coupling with the counter-connector,
Optionally in this method, moving the CPA device between the first position and the second position modifies the configuration of a shunt supported by the connector, the electrical control circuit being open when the CPA device is in the first position and the electrical circuit control being closed by the shunt when the CPA device is in the second position.
Other characteristics and advantages will appear in the detailed presentation of different embodiments of the invention, the presentation being accompanied by examples and references to the attached drawings.
The secondary connector housing 6 and the shunt 7 are, for example, both integrated into a cable guide cover 8 mounted on the connector 3. An advantage of this solution is to be able to connect a connector 3 whose interface with a counter -connector has already been defined, to a control circuit 4 without having to completely redesign connector 3. Only cover 8 can be modified. But, according to other embodiments, the secondary connector housing 6 and the shunt 7 can be integrated into a main housing 9 constituting the connector 3. Likewise, according to another exemplary embodiment, conductive elements 10 of the circuit control 4 are housed in the main housing 9 of the connector 3 and the shunt is housed in a counter-connector intended to be coupled to the connector 3. Other solutions can be considered by those skilled in the art in which conductive elements 10 of the control circuit 4 can be connected to a shunt 7 when mating the connector 3 with a counter-connector, or when mating a secondary connector housing 6 with an element comprising the shunt 7. In all cases, it is important that the connection of the conductive elements 10 of the control circuit 4 with the shunt 7 demonstrates an effective and functional coupling of the connector 3 with a counter-connector.
Par exemple également, le système d’analyse 11 est un sous-ensemble du système d’aide à la conduite 2.The conductive elements 10 are connected to an analysis system 11 which analyzes the signal transmitted by the conductive elements 10. For example, this signal is analyzed continuously, at least when the vehicle 1 is used. Also for example, the analysis system 11 is a subset of the driving assistance system 2.
An example embodiment of an electrical connector 3 is described below. This comprises a main housing 9, a cable guide cover 8, a coupling assistance lever 12 and a CPA device 13. These elements 8, 9, 12, 13 are made of molded plastic material.
The main housing 9 includes cells 14 in which electrical contacts (not shown) made of conductive metal are housed. These contacts are connected to electrical wires or cables (not shown) themselves integrated into an electrical circuit connected to the driving assistance system 2. These contacts are accessible at an interface 15 configured to allow coupling of connector 3 with a counter-connector. For example, the counter-connector is mounted on a computer, an actuator or a sensor.
These wires or these cables are guided by the cable guide cover 8, then possibly attached together and to the cable guide cover 8 using a link, a clamp or a cable clamp.
The lever 12 comprises two lateral branches 16 articulated on the main housing 9 and connected together by a handle 17. The lever 12 is movable in rotation between at least one open position in which the connector 3 can be presented facing the counter-connector, then pre-coupled thereto, and a closed position in which the lever 12 keeps the connector 3 and the counter-connector completely coupled and connected to each other.
The CPA device 13 is slidably mounted on the cable guide cover 8 between a first position and a second position. The CPA device 13 is locked in the first position as long as the lever 12 is not in the closed position, in other words as long as the connector 3 and the counter-connector are not completely coupled. As will be explained later, in the closed position of the lever 12, the handle 17 interferes with the CPA device 13 to unlock it. Moving the CPA device 13 from the first to the second position is then possible.
This secondary housing 6 can be mounted removably or not in the cable guide cover 8. Alternatively, the secondary housing 6 comes integrally with the cover cable guides 8.
The secondary housing 6 houses at least two conductive elements 10 configured to be connected to the control circuit 4.
Selon l’exemple de mode de réalisation décrit ici, chaque élément conducteur 10 est un contact mâle (par exemple un contact référencé MTS et commercialisé par la société Aptiv®).In the example illustrated in Figures 4 to 12, the secondary housing 6 is made of a molded plastic material (for example a material reinforced with fiberglass, such as Polybutyleneterephthalate GF 15 or 30). The secondary box 6 is produced independently of the cable guide cover 8, then is mounted in the latter. It has two cavities 18 (for example, cavities of 0.6 millimeters each). Each cavity 18 houses a conductive element 10. According to the example embodiment described here, each conductive element 10 is a male contact (for example a contact referenced MTS and marketed by the company Aptiv®).
For example, shunt 7 is made of a copper alloy such as CuFe2P or CuNiSi, with a thickness of approximately 0.30 millimeters. Advantageously, the shunt 7 is gold-plated at least in the areas intended to come into contact with the conductive elements 10, so as to maintain very good electrical contact throughout the life of the connector 3.
The shunt 7 has undulations 21, essentially at the level of the central portion 20, and areas of jagged edges 22, at the level of the side branches 19. The undulations 21 and the areas of jagged edges 22 make it possible to improve the retention of the shunt 7 in a support 29, itself mounted, in the exemplary embodiment presented, in the cable guide cover 8 (According to another exemplary embodiment, the shunt 7 can be mounted directly in the cable guide cover cables 8. Likewise, the undulations 21 of the shunt 7 limit the clearances. The undulations 21 are configured to cooperate with structures projecting on the internal surface of the support 29, facing the shunt 7. Thus, the friction between the shunt 7 and the conductive elements 10 are limited, or even non-existent, which makes the connection of the shunt 7 with the conductive elements 10 more reliable throughout the life of the connector 3.
Each side branch 19 of the shunt 7 has a free end 23 supporting an elastic contact tab 24 and an elastic pressurization tab 25. Each elastic contact tab 24 is configured to establish electrical contact with a conductive element 10 (when the CPA device 13 is in its second position). For example, each elastic contact tab 24 has a “U” shape in longitudinal section. Each elastic pressure tab 25 is configured to cooperate with the CPA device 13 when the latter is moved from its first position to its second position. Each elastic pressurizing tab 25 is oriented so as to form a ramp that part of the CPA device 13 travels, at least on a portion, when it is moved from its first position to its second position. Thus, the CPA device 13 exerts pressure on each elastic pressuring tab 25 which deforms the free end 23 of each lateral branch 19 of the shunt 7. As a result, each elastic contact tab 24 is pushed towards, then on , a conductive element of circuit 10 and maintains a pressure (elastic force) thereon. The contact force exerted by each contact tab 24 therefore results at least in part from the elastic deformation of at least one elastic pressuring tab 25 and from the elastic deformation of at least one contact tab 24.
The example embodiment of the connector 3 described above concerns an electrical connector 3. Of course, this embodiment can be transposed to an optical connector by replacing the electrical contacts housed in the main housing with optical fiber ferrules (the secondary housing 6 and the shunt 7 remaining identical or similar to what has been described) .
