Le procédé comprend une estimation d'une température (Tcour) de la courroie en temps réel selon un modèle simulant un bilan thermique (14) de la courroie basée sur au moins une estimation ou une mesure de la température ambiante (Tamb) et au moins une évaluation des échanges en convection (15) et en conduction (17) de la courroie.
